Director of Operations

Julie Malecki (she/her) is a soprano from the western suburbs of Chicago. She is pleased to join Fox Valley Opera as a soloist and as Director of Operations. Julie has been featured in such operatic roles as Mother Hen/The Innkeeper’s Wife (The Adventures of Little Sharp Ears), First Lady (Die Zauberflöte), Mary Warren (The Crucible), Alice Ford (Falstaff), La Principessa (La bella dormente nel bosco), Princess Zara (Utopia, Limited), Angelina (Trial by Jury), Lady Psyche (Princess Ida), and Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi). Julie completed a DMA in Vocal Performance and Literature from the University of Illinois, where she had the opportunity to explore the performance practices of early music as a soloist with the Concerto Urbano ensemble. Her thesis, The Hamburg Operas of Johann Wolfgang Franck: A Singer’s Guide to Selected Soprano Arias, explored performance practice considerations for some of the earliest surviving German operatic arias, which Julie then performed in a recital of Franck’s works. Dr. Malecki currently teaches voice lessons and performs as a soloist in the Chicago area.
