A versatile and expressive bass, Alex Rattana has spent the past decade performing in a wide range of productions, projects, and choral ensembles throughout the Chicagoland area. Notable operatic roles include Osmin in Die Entführung aus dem Serail (Mozart), Seneca in L’incoronazione di Poppea (Monteverdi), and Don Magnifico in La Cenerentola (Rossini). His concert work features major works such as Verdi’s Requiem and Bach’s Mass in B Minor. In addition to his performance career, he has directed numerous choral, instrumental, and church ensembles. He has also played Bass Trombone for jazz ensembles and several churches. He currently serves as a 5th grade teacher in Des Plaines, where he also leads the school’s band and choir programs. A proud Elgin native, he continues to be an active musical presence in Chicago’s western suburbs.
