Coloratura soprano Lauren Sutherland is known for her energetic stage presence and glittering high notes. She is establishing herself as an artistically versatile singer, already performing leading roles in both operatic and musical theatre repertoire. A newcomer to Chicago, recent performances include Phyllis in the Savoyaires’ production of Iolanthe, Suor Osmina/Second Touriere in the Valkyrie Ensemble’s Suor Angelica, and in concert with Great Lakes Operetta. Some of her favorite roles performed include Serpetta (La finta giardiniera), Le Feu (L’enfant et les sortiléges), Adele (Die Fledermaus), Madame Herz (The Impresario), Marian Paroo (The Music Man), The Queen of the Night (The Magic Flute), and Susan ([title of show]). Lauren received her Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from the Wheaton College Conservatory and completed her graduate studies at UMKC, studying under Dr. Maria Kanyova. When she is not singing, Lauren loves running, knitting, and scouring vintage stores. She resides in Oak Park with her husband, dog, and cat.
