Kate Bishop is a stage director increasingly recognized for her insightful and musically sensitive
interpretations of the operatic repertoire. From comedy to horror to romance, she approaches
each production with a keen attention to detail and a deep respect for both music and story.
Most recently, Bishop served as assistant stage director for Die Walküre with Dramatic Voices
Midwest. Other directing credits include Amahl and the Night Visitors with Music On Site, Inc.,
as well as numerous opera scenes programs with a variety of companies. At Florida State
University, she directed FSU Opera Outreach’s La Cenerentola and assisted on The Rake’s
Progress, among others. Bishop holds both Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Vocal
Performance from Baylor University. She will direct FSU Opera Outreach’s upcoming Don
Pasquale and FSU’s summer opera production of Dark Sisters in May. She is currently pursuing
her Master of Music degree in Opera Directing at Florida State University, where she will
graduate this spring.
